Reversing
Reversing is the manoeuvre with the least visibility, so it needs the most preparation. Look behind before you start, not through the mirrors alone - the area directly behind a vehicle is invisible from the driver's seat.
Go slowly, in the lowest gear, and be ready to stop. If you cannot see, get out and look, or have somebody guide you.
Your reversing light comes on with reverse gear and tells everyone behind what you are about to do. It is a warning to others, not a light to see by.
Never reverse on a highway or reverse a long distance in traffic. Drive on and turn where it is safe.
