Parking
Park where you do not obstruct. A vehicle left on a bend, at a junction, in front of a gate, on a zebra crossing or beside a no-parking sign is an obstruction even when nothing is coming.
Leave the vehicle secured: handbrake on, in gear or in park, wheels turned into the kerb on a slope, and locked. On a hill, assume the handbrake alone will not hold.
Get out on the side away from traffic where you can, and check the mirror before opening a door. A door opened into a passing motorcycle is one of the most common urban injuries.
