Offences
Some offences are matters of a fine; others end a licence or a liberty.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving without a number plate and driving on the wrong side are all acted on immediately by the traffic police.
Driving a vehicle with the intention to kill, where the person dies, is punished as life imprisonment with forfeiture of property. Causing death by careless driving is a serious offence in its own right.
A driver of a long-distance public vehicle must be relieved after six hours at the wheel; running past that is an offence against the passengers as much as the rules.
Fleeing the scene of an accident is treated more seriously than the accident.
