Fines and penalties
Most day-to-day breaches are dealt with by a fine issued on the spot: no seat belt, no helmet, using a phone, a defective light, a missing document, wrong-side driving, prohibited parking.
Fines are not the only consequence. Violations accumulate against the licence, and a licence is cancelled after five.
Documents attract their own penalties for lateness. A bluebook renewed late is fined, and a route permit must be renewed within fifteen days of expiry.
Driving a vehicle without a pollution pass sticker is a fine on the DRIVER, not on the owner.
