Road markings
The lines painted on the road are markings, and they carry the same authority as signs.
A CONTINUOUS centre line must not be crossed; a BROKEN one may be crossed when it is safe. Edge lines mark the limit of the carriageway, and a stop line at a junction is where you stop - not where you begin to slow.
A zebra crossing is marked in WHITE and BLACK stripes. Yellow is not used on it, and red is not used in road line marking at all.
Markings and signs are two halves of the same instruction. Where they disagree, the sign wins.
